Grey Sky Morning - Vertical Horizon
Celeb sighting: Jade Kwan downstairs from my apartment. A new real estate company opened at the mall and had her appear to try and draw more people to their location. Blah.
My patience with the general mindset in Hong Kong is wearing out. People here are just . . . kind of selfish when it comes to really stupid little things. Things like opening the door for others, not to mention for themselves.
I miss being able to walk in a straight line down the sidewalk. I am able to do that in Vancouver. In Hong Kong, it's like I'm constantly playing chicken with whoever's coming towards me . . . Which one of us will be the first to change course??? I always lose.
Yesterday I was having lunch with my parents . . . we were sitting right next to the entrance - a sliding door with a big fat sign taped to it telling those leaving to please close the door behind them. You wouldn't believe how many people didn't bother . . . thus the air-conditioned comfy-ness of the restaurant was lost until I turned around and rolled the door shut. >_<
It's 25 Celsius . . . in mid-December. It's hot even for Hong Kong . . . what's up with the heatwave?
=\ . . . All these things that are bugging me about this place . . . I wonder when I'll get used to life here. There is never silence here . . . the only time I get any peace and quiet is after everyone goes to sleep. And even then there is traffic noise outside, 24/7. @_@
I miss my room. I miss my bed.
I miss the cool feeling of my sheets and duvet cover when I first climb into bed. Nothing is cool here.
I miss using big, fluffy, thick towels after I shower. Can't use thick ones here because they don't dry thoroughly.
I miss spontaneous decisions to go out with friends. Once I'm home here, I don't want to go out again . . . public transit is not my cup of tea.
Most of all I miss my Vancouver friends.
